Season of Creation 2026 September 1 to October 4 (Feast of St Francis of Assisi). After this summer in Ireland, we don’t have to imagine burnt earth, dry and cracked soil, desert and depleted resources of water. If we were lukewarm before about ‘Care for our Common Home’ or cynical about ‘Laudato Si’ we have an opportunity to    revisit those views by immersing ourselves in the celebration of the Season ofCreation in our liturgies and our communities  The theme ‘Living Water’ inspired by Ezekiel 47:9,12. is a powerful biblical vision of hope and ecological healing. Set amid exile and loss, the image of living water flowing from God’s sanctuary reveals divine healing that renews land, water, biodiversity, and human responsibility towards the whole of  creation. The vision invites human responsibility: recognising ecological damage, embracing interconnectedness, we are called to immerse ourselves in the water, and actively safeguard and work for the renewal of creation so that  environmental healing and human well-being may flourish together Prayer “Creator God, we give you thanks for the gift of this beautiful world. For the skies, the seas, the animals, and all the green things that grow. Open our eyes to see your presence in every part of the universe. Forgive us for the harm we have done to the earth and to our neighbors Help us to be wise stewards of your creation, so that we may protect life, seek justice, and walk gently on this shared home.Amen.”
