November, the month of the Holy Souls,The falling of the leaves, the beginning of the Celtic Calendar. The Church continually prays for the dead. Today The 2nd of  November is devoted to the Holy Souls, especially those who have nobody to pray for them. At this time of year we especially remember & pray for our loved ones our neighbours, our friends, people in our community and others who have gone home to the care of God in Heaven. It is an ancient custom to visit a church and graveyard during the month to pray for the dead. We ought to keep these customs and practice them. It is comforting to realise that our relatives have not gone away from us but gone before us and some day we will be with them in Paradise. We hear this prayer at Mass to remember those souls gone before us. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen
