Nine words or thoughts to reject during Lent – They lead to sins which kill the soul Anger: monitor your anger and count how many times you got angry in a day. Repent and ask for help. Lust: How often have I encouraged bad thoughts or actions. Repent and ask for help. Gluttony: Do I live to eat or eat to live. Am I moderate in satisfying hungers? Repent and ask for help. Jealousy: Am I jealous about what everyone else has, their looks, their home, their talents. Or am I content with my lot? Repent and ask for help. Pride: Am I arrogant or boastful and do I look down on others? Just as a deadly plague destroys not just one member of the body, but the whole of it, so pride commits the whole soul, not just part of it. Repent and ask for help. Greed: Do I love money and possessions? Repent and ask for help. Vainglory: Do I think I am the greatest? Repent and ask for help. Sadness: Do I wallow in sadness and self-pity? Repent and ask for help. Laziness: Do I waste time and am I casual about my spiritual growth? Repent and ask for help.
