Jubilee Year of Hope 2015—Pilgrims of Hope—Killina Mass Rock In this Jubilee year we are encouraged to embark on pilgrimages with a view to growing in prayer, reflection on our lives and renewal in our faith . The Jubilee Year is an opportunity to grow the Christian virtues of faith , hope, encouragement support and love amongst us . People will go on pilgrimages to places far away which are encouraged but people are asked also to go on pilgrimage to places and shrines nearer to home which have religious and faith Importance. During the 17th and 18th centuries during the Penal Laws, Cromwell’s time of persecution and the Reformation when the celebration of Mass was prohibited people gathered at Mass Rocks to celebrate Mass. In recognition of the courage of the generations who have gone before us and their commitment to the faithwe are planning to celebrate Mass at the Mass Rock at Killina on Friday 20th June at 7.30pm . On the evening we encourage people to bring a flask of tea and refreshments so as they can share hospitality with family and friends. In preparation for this we will have A Clean Up Meeting at the Mass Rock on this Tuesday evening 27th starting from 7pm. All help from those who have strimmers , hedge cutters , clipping shears and other implement welcome. A further Pilgrimage site in our parish is Lynally cemetery where Mass will be celebrated later in the year . Have you any other suggestions for other pilgrimage sites in our parish ?
