Published on November 24, 2025

Advent begins next weekend  Let us all think of how we might make these weeks of Advent a fitting spiritual journey in preparation for Christmas Some Suggestions 1. At home perhaps Pray as a family, or 2. Come to Mass for the 4 Sundays in build up to Christmas 3. Go to Confession or  4 Prepare with your children or grandchildren An Advent Wreath or 5. Have An Advent Calendar to count down the days of Advent .

Advent is a wake up call for us all . In a world distracted by busyness, materialism or fear Jesus urges us to be alert and to stay awake. Isaiah’s vision of peace inspires us to build God’s kingdom now through  our daily acts of compassion, forgiveness, and justice. Saint Paul’s call to put on Christ means shedding selfishness and embracing love. The Gospel’s urgency reminds us that life is fleeting and we don’t know the hour of the return of the Lord. This Advent lets all prepare by deepening our prayer ,seeking reconciliation and serving others. Examine your hearts. What keeps you from Christ ? Confession, love ,charity kindness and scripture can refocus us. As we light our Advent wreath let its growing light symbolise our growing readiness for Jesus .In a culture that rushes Christmas let’s embrace Advent ‘s quiet anticipation, trusting that Christ our hope is coming to make all things new. As we enter Advent let’s stay awake preparing our hearts for Christ Through prayer, penance and love may we welcome Christ at Christmas and always. May this Eucharist strengthen us to live as his light in our world ready to bring His light & love everywhere we go  and ready for his return today and everyday .
